Calling channels gurus

Having read his book about 4 times, I can assuredly say that he covered the entire process quite nicely and in detail. A much better explanation than one could give here in a few sentences. Without wanting to sound like an ass, I’d suggest you read on.

In Dan Margulis’ book, he talked about editing a channel in one color space and use it to replace a channel in another color space. What are the actual steps to edit individual channels, and to replace channels? Thanks.

I also have gone through some chapters several times. While I think the book is excellent in explaining the theories behind his techniques, I find the process often lacking in details for me (with a couple of years of PS experience). In particular, I have a mental block on how to edit or sharpen an individual channel.

Thanks, I have the book. He uses Apply Image a lot. Is there another way to work on a single channel?

To sharpen a channel, click on the channel you wish to work on and also the "eye" for the composite channel. This way you can see the effect the sharpening is having on the entire image. Make sure you have the image layer selected before hand. This will not work with an adjustment layer selected.

You work on a single channel simply by clicking on it in the Channels palette.

There are at least two ways:

1. Go to a channel, select all, copy. Go to the other channel, paste
2. Use the channel mixer and select one channel, set the slider to 100%
of another channel
