check the dpi for that image, it should be around 72
yeah i have it on 72 but the type is still the same
Danny I had this issue with certain documents and reported in in the CS Bugs thread (see posts 140-143). It wasn’t a bug though.
The issue for me was resolution. My document for some reason loaded at 2.5ppi instead of 72 or 300 and I hadn’t checked.
Prior to this I did find a successful work-around you could try: Open the document you wish to work on. Then open a new document with the same dimensions (to avoid the need to crop later). Drag the original document onto it as a layer. Type should then work.
The reason why this work around gave success though, was obviously because the second document was being opened with the right resolution per its settings. Therefore, if resolution isn’t your issue, see if you can follow Dave’s other suggestions – I think, in post 142.
Adam.
ah, danny, i see you DID start a new thread 🙂
per my reply in the other thread, ok this doesn’t SOUND like you’re using type mask any more – the "marching ants" comment in there threw me.
check to be sure you got the dialog box when resetting the prefrences…
also, you can try to just reset the type tool. open the character palette (Window> Character) from the character palette flyout menu (right facing arrow in the upper right of the palette) select "Reset Character" all the way at the bottom of the fly-out menu. do the same thing in the paragraph palette.
hth, dave

Danny,
Just trash your prefs file – Details in the FAQ at the top of this forum’s Topic List
(Un-install/Reinstall doesn’t delete the prefs file)
