Hi everyone, never posted here before but it seemed like the best place to ask my question! I am making a poster for school using photoshop, the poster features a male symbol, the type you see on a mens room door for example. I need to know where the best place to find one is. I found this one:

http://www.clipart.com/en/close-up?o=296032&memlevel=C&a mp;a=c&q=man%20toilet&s=1&e=30&show=&c=& amp;cid=&findincat=&g=&cc=&page=

but its copyrighted and i cant pay for 7 days access for one picture! I need one same as this or very very simliar.

can anyone please help?

If I were you i’d copy that "copyright" image, redraw it in photoshop or illustrator, tweak it a few bits and put your own copyriht on it.

I’ll bet there are over hundreds different designs all over the world of these kind of male figures, so i’m doubtful anyone will have a chance of succesfully challenging you in court 😉

The point is, you can’t use exactly the same image, well, then tweak it. Just round it of here and there, make the shoulders a bit wider, spread the legs a bit etc.

So if I steal your car and change a few things, like a bumper sticker or such, it becomes mine?
Just try to tweak a bit the Microsoft or Coca Cola or Adobe logo and as you say: "put your copyright on it"
Lets see what’s going to happen to you…

Trying to be a smartass huh 😉

Like i said, with hundreds of these simplistic looking design of male figures around, it’s hard for a designer to claim that specifically that one was originally created by him.

And now you are comparing that to Microsoft and Coca Cola logos? That a whole different ball game don’t you think?

I, and many other, simply have a problem with the idea of taking something that is not yours and "tweaking it a bit".
There is no different ball game in this case.If it is not yours, ask for permission to use it or make your own from scratch.

You and what others?

And tell me what you would significantly do different in your design of a toilet door male symbol? 😉

I don’t know about Stephan but, personally, I’d probably make it rather more male. But then, I don’t think you’d see my symbol used on too many doors 😉
