Anyone happen to have any Neue Helvetica fonts for the PC? I’d like to use them to finish a personal project of mine. Thanks!

If you just enter Neue Helvetica into Google you’ll find dozens of places selling the fonts, either individually or in sets. If you don’t want to buy the real ones, some sites have lookalikes. The true Helvetica fonts are not free.

Really? Because when I try opening default swatch libraries in AI10 (such as the pantones), it keeps warning me that it cannot find the Helvitica font, and that it will be substituted.

Why would the PC version of Illustrator use a default font for things like swatch libraries that must be purchased separately?

I’m confused. 🙁 I just assumed that if Adobe expects all of us to already have this font, that it either came bundled with Windows, or was freely available somewhere.

No. I have those fonts, but only because I purchased the Adobe Font Folio.

Something you are trying to open obviously uses those fonts. As you don’t have them Illy is substituting something similar.

The only thing I am trying to open is the pantone swatch library (that comes with AI10). I get a warning that Helvetica will be substituted each time I try changing libraries.

Is this somekind of trick to make us spend more? I bought the program, shouldn’t that be enough?

Well, now I’m confused. Your initial post said you wanted Helvetica for a personal project. Now you’re saying that Illustrator is demanding the font for system use. If the latter is the case then you have a problem with your installation of Illustrator. Try completely uninstalling it, removing registry entries and preferences, and re-install. Otherwise, contact Adobe. There is no "trick to make us spend more." Illustrator doesn’t require additional fonts in order to run, unless they’re demanded by a file you’re trying to open. ——————————-
