CS Keyboard Shortcuts do not work for me

What is the secret to making Photoshop CS kb shortcuts work? I cannot get CTRL J or CTRL E to manipulate layers. The keystrokes have absolutely no effect. I’m working in WinXP.

Covered in the FAQs. The top two reasons for the ctrl shortcuts not working are an illegally cracked copy of Photoshop or the need to update you keyboard drivers.

But we don’t see too many people with cracked copies coming here to Adobe’s own web site for advice on how to bypass pirate/copy protection of the program… I mean, how stupid would THAT be?

I have this problem and I have the latest drivers and my software is registered with adobe. this is frustrating.

Do you have any other software running that might be hijacking the ctrl key?
