Can you trigger a script from an action? I know that you can trigger an action from a script, but does it work the other way around? This would overcome many inherent limitations of actions.

Yes, simply run the script while you are recording the action. Most of my Photoshop automation works like this.

But there is a problem in CS2. It seems that you cannot run actions that run scripts from the Bridge because of a design flaw in the Bridge. There has been a lot of discussion about this on the Adobe forum on Photoshop scripting. This is why I have not upgraded to CS2.
