I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me. I’m a newbie when it comes to photoshop so please be gentle. 😉

I have a layer that contains my website logo, the actual text of the logo has a drop shadow and i’d like to apply the union jack over the whole logo but keep the drop shadow, i want to use the union jack image to actually create the drop shadow so it’s sort of like you have the union jack as 3d text.

I’d really apreciate some help or someone pointing me in the right direction.

Thanks
Andrew

Do you want the Union Jack inside the lettering? Have it on a layer above the text and Alt-click on the line between the layers to make a Clipping Group. Any effects on the type will remain.

Not sure if that’s what you are after.

Yes this can be done, however you need the font face and an extruded version of the font, either you make the extrusion or bring it in from another program like Xara 3d with the extruded text do as edjh explained (select the text first) then simply place the layer with font face text on top.

doesn’t Illustrator do that extruded text?
He could save the flag as a pattern and use it on any text and then add a drop shadow with effects?

or leave the logo as is and add a layer of flag over it and try some interesting blend modes
