Hi there, does anyone know an easy way to add realistic looking catch lights to a subjects eyes?

I just use a whitebrush with small size (on a seperate layer). The trick with catchlights is that they always need a counter light (at the otherside of the eye) however, that is not always possible.

Katrin Eisman describes in her terrific book "restoration and retouching in Photoshop" a method that puts a relatively big whitish blob (semilunar shape) at one side of the iris and then a couple of lines (perpendicular to the pupil) at the other side of the iris. One could smudge these lines a bit as well.

Just make sure they are in the same position on each eye!

I use white or a light shade of grey from the color picker but if there is catch light available on another suject in the same picture I will "clone" and copy it to the other eye OR I find a picture with catch light and do a whole eye swap……Hope this helps
