Hi,

Is there a way to know exactly how much color change is applied in the variations tool? My thinking is that if I knew the exact "amount" of color change applied, then I can apply the same using the color balance tool sliders, only I can do this better in an adjustment layer?

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi Apollo,

I’m assuming you mean Image/Adjustments/Variations as I am not aware of a variations tool.

One way to accomplish your goal would be to use the "Colour Sampler Tool" to place markers on the neutral Highlight, Shadow and Midtone area of your photo. Then look at the info tab to see the original and changed settings.

Another option would be to make the changes to one photo and when this was complete open a second photo and use the Image/Adjustments/Match colour menu function to match the one photo to the other.

A third option would be to record the changes to the first photo as an action and then apply that action to the other photos you want to change.

A fourth option would be to download the beta version of Adobe Lightroom as it has functions to do exactly what you need.
