Yesterday when I open Photoshop 7 it would start it’s boot process but then abruptly boot me out before opening. I uninstalled then reinstalled but nothing changed. This happened before several years ago and I vaguely recall a simple remedy of deleting some file or files and some kind of automatic rebuild would then take place the next time I opened photoshop.

Can anyone please give me some advice to remedy this situation?

Those were probably the Prefs file(s). You should re-name them, before you Delete them.

Also, watch the splash screen carefully, when you launch. There is one line of small black type, that will tell you what PS is loading. Note what that line states, before the loading stops. That will tell you if your problem is with a font, a plug-in, or something else. If it IS a font, or plug-in, Pref files removal will likely not solve the issue. To launch PS without the Prefs files, hold down Shift-Ctrl-Alt, when you double-click on the PS icon. PS will ask you if you wish to re-do the Prefs (forget the actual, correct syntax of that message) and click OK. Again, if your problem is a font, a plug-in, or some other problem, this will likely not help.
