As a general rule, when I click on alt/cntrl/s for save as, it tries to save the file as a copy and puts the word copy in the file name. It did not use to do that, so I have done something to alter the defaults, but I cannot discover how to undo it. Is it possible to set the default for save as so that it does not come up as a copy? Thanks.

What version? What file format are you saving in? This behavior varies from version to version.

In general if the format doesn’t support something that is in the file, like layers or channels you will get "copy". So flatten, delete channels, etc.

Thanks for the response. I found out what the problem was. I was using keyboard shortcuts because it is quicker. However, there is a difference between alt/ctrl/s and shift/ctrl/s. The first saves as a copy and the second just saves as. Of coures, as you point out, if there are layers etc, it goes to save as copy.

Thanks again for your response.
