Photoshop 7 and transparent backgrounds

Hello,using photoshop 7, I am converting a cropped .jpg to a .tga file. When I crop the picture (think 6 pack bottle of coke or beer) I still have a white background remaining that can be seen between each bottle. Using the background erasing tool, I can erase it and save as .tga. When I use the image the white background still shows up between the bottles (Using reference above) instead of being transparent.. Do I need to use a mask or am I doing something else wrong?

Targa files don’t support transparency. You need to save as a GIF, PNG TIFF, PDF or PSD.

I think that’s all.

Well, I thought I had tried that but after your suggestion I tried it again… and it worked fine.

No genius here…just the ability to learn from my mistakes, remember what I did to solve a problem and the tendency to help others when they confront the same things for the first time. It’s my own personal crusade to end computer-related baldness. 🙂

Either download the Targa plugin from Adobe or update to 7.0.1: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=1544
