Lost Preferences

Hi,

All my preferences were reset for no apparent reason. All my custom brushes, gradients, etc. seem to be gone and the preferences reset. I’m using Photoshop 6.0. Is there something I can do to keep this happening in the future?

you can back up pref files…

Here are the locations/names for CS and version 7.
I *think* that 6 would probably be the same, but not sure. http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/6712.htm

yep, looks like at least the main pref file is:
