I am on a project to make a "yearbook" for my husband’s 50th class reunion. It involves copying the black/white photos from his 50 year old yearbook, scanning them and then fixing them up as much as possible for insertion into a Word document about that person. I am new to PE 3 which is one problem, but am also finding it difficult to get rid of the pixely faces – I have experimented with several tools, but have yet to find the proper way to restore these photos. Any help on what are the best tools in this situation would be appreciated. TIA.

You will continue to have problems. You are NOT seeing pixels. Anything printed on
paper like a newspaper, magazine, or yearbook is printed through a half-tone screen.
You are seeing the half-tone screen dots. Unlike photo paper, printing with printers
inks requires using a half-tone screen and a series of dots. So the only thing you might
try is descreen but even that will not do much to help.
