I have a Dual Xeon Server, but sometimes things still slow down when I have large Photo, or Photo type images loaded.
Should I try to get a better Motherboard that takes PC3200 instead of the PC2100 I have. (1GB) total.
Or should I almost brake my back to try to get a G5?
I know apple Macs are better at Photo’s, most of what I do though is just color stuff in.

Most likely, a faster hard drive will give you better performance without the need to replace your motherboard.

Might alos wnat to use Task Manager to see how much RAM is being used. Sometimes a gig isn’t enough.

Add more RAM. And, like Tacit says, get a faster hard drive if possible. And no, Macs aren’t better at photos.

Hm, I most times don’t drop below about 500 Mb.
Maybe I should turn down the swap file, and see if that helps. btw, I’m overclocked to PC3200.
I love this Xeon Board, I can overclock my chips.

Ty on the info on Macs, I’ll keep it in mind.

I figured out myself when it slows down.
It’s the Step Back feature of Photoshop that makes things slow down. It sucks down ram fast.
If I want a system that will help with this a lot, I should get myself a FX55 2.6 GHz with 1,000 FSB @ 2,000 effective bus.
The problem is $$
Building from parts is not a problem though.

Memory readings BTW
288 Mb before I closed PhotoShop
555 Mb After Hangs around 555,001 – 555,344
