Save as in Photoshop CS

Using Win 2000, when i save my jpeg photos, using "save as" there is no problem. However, if i change the file name after selecting save as, and then clicking OK, the image can’t be opened.
Can anyone explane why?

I Think that the fielname you give has NO or a different file extension that JPG, is the the file extention definitly ‘.jpg, and are you also saving definatly as a JPEG type file format ?.
