I have photoshop 7.0 on Windows XP home. I’ve been using Photoshop fine yesterday, but I go to open it today and it will not complete its loadings, then just closes on me. I did a search on the FAQs and tried hitting alt+ctrl+shift..but this eventuated in nothing. tried uninstalling and installing several times, but nothing. Image ready opens fine, but when i try to swap it back to photoshop, this message displays…

"Could not fully start the application because an unknown error has occured"

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Did you actually get a screen asking if you want to delete the PS settings files?

No, I didn’t get any screens. It loads up as usual, but as it loads the brushs, it closes.

Then you’re not getting in fast enough. Try it again. You should get a pop up asking if you want to reset your settings file.

Bob,

No..nothing happens. I hit crtl-alt-shift but then it just closes. No screen whatsoever, and i’m hitting it immediately!

ok, i got it…then this message appears..

"You currently have adobe Photoshop’s primary Scratch and Windows’ primary paging file on the same volume, which can result in reduced performance. It is recommended that you set Adobe Photoshop;s primary Scratch volume to be on a different volume, preferably on a different physical drive."

Whats a scratch volume? Sorry for the ignorance!

If you only have one harddrive, ignore the message.

I am receiving the same message as above – but only after I reinstalled. After opening a second time, the application simply does not open. It runs through the credits, then crashes and does not open. Please assist! Thank you.

Delete the prefs also. This does not happen with a reistall of Photoshop. Rob
