hello guys & girls

I am going to try and explain what I want to do with Photoshop.

For example, I create a new layer and then create a rectangle, which is part of the header to the website layout I am designing.

I want to use an image inside the rectangle and when I select the layer which contains the image and move it with my mouse, the image stays/moves within the rectangle rather then moving around the entire layout.

Does anyone understand what I am talking about?

Link the Layers. This is done in different ways depending on version but before CS2 just click the box next to the eye in the Layers Palette to get a chain link icon. In CS2 I believe you Shift-click to select more than one at a time.

Or, as another solution, you can create a layer set and put all relevant objects inside it. Then when you select an move the set, all objects contained within will move as one.

top layer with web header, select the image area and edit>cut that area.

bottom layer contains the image.

Or, in similar fashion, if the rectangle is actually a Layer Mask, it will only allow the image to be visible within its constraints.
