I’ve used Photoshop 4.0 for years. I upgraded to 5.5 about 2 years ago and have since been using that. I’d like to upgrade to version 7.0, but before I invest the money I just want to make sure it’s possible. Can you upgrade from an upgrade? i.e. upgrade to 7.0 from the upgraded 5.5 version I’m currently using? Alternately, can you upgrade to 7.0 directly from the 4.0 version (I still have the disc) without the intervening versions?

What is Photoshop CS– is it the equivalent of "Photoshop 8," i.e. the most recent version of PS? Are there any significant improvements over version 7.0? Thanks.

(For some strange reason, it won’t let me edit my previous message, so I’m having to post this separately). Sorry, forgot to ask: same question about upgrading to PS CS. Can you upgrade directly to CS from 4.0 or 5.5?

Catherine,

You can upgrade from ANY previous version of Photoshop, but for versions prior to 5.5 you will need to call Adobe for special instructions since previous versions are not automatically seen as qualifying products.
