I’m trying to batch rename files from a wedding in which multiple cameras were used. The cameras were synced by time before the job started. Is there a way to sort the files by date created first and then once they are re named, assign a serial number? I basically want the images in time-order starting from the beginning of the wedding to the end. I did try to rename them but they came out incorrect order. I’m using PS7 in case it matters.

Thanks in advance

Eric

This is for Photoshop CS, but I’m 99% sure it applies in 7 as well.

* Place all your files in the same folder, no matter which camera took the photos. You may have to rename images so you don’t overwrite ones with the same name.
* Open the File Browser in Photoshop. You can go to "Window->File Browser" to get to it.
* Navigate to the folder you stored the images in.
* In the file browser, you should be able to go to "Sort->Date Created", and then do a "Automate->Batch Rename".

The step that might not work in 7 is step 4. I think it should. If it doesn’t, you can always download the trial of CS, and try it out!

Or if you are using Win XP, you can do it in Win Explorer.
