I use Photoshop CS and Epson Stylus Photo R800. When I print out using the icm profile in Epson the picture is too dark. If not using the icm profile in Epson printer setting then the picture is too light. Any possible way I can compensate for this issue? Can I use my monitor ICC profile and save as ICM and use that for my printer printing profile? Will that work?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Charlie,
You should be able to get quite accurate output, if your monitor profile is accurate and if the many print settings are correct in Print Preview. Here is a dandy tutorial on the subject. Look particularly at the settings for media profiles , which you are using.

Thanks for the quick but it doesn’t work. I have tried all those options as the link you gave me said. If on the printer’s properties under color management I choose ICM then the picture will come out too dark doesn’t matter what Print Space or Source Space I use. On the other hand, if I choose Photo Enhance in the printer’s properties color management then the picture will come out very light despite what print space or source space I use. And some how, this problem occurs rarely and only with certain picture taking with my Minolta DiMage 7 camera. In every 100 picture taken with this camera, there will be three or 5 pictures that doesn’t matter what print space or source space I use, the printout picture will not look like I have it open in Photoshop.

I believe that you need to tell the printer not to do colour management at all. Let PS do it.

Thanks for all your help. I think you’re right. The printer is doing color management and that causes the problem. Anyway, thansk again.
