Batch mode image resize?

I would like to create an action that would open each file in a specified folder. In this case, they are all sheet music files in PNG format. Then I need to change the existing image size to a Height of 1022 Pixels, preserving the aspect ratio. I think a batch mode operation can be used here, but I don’t have the skills to figure out how.

Is there were any way to automatically straighten the images before resizing them, in this same batch mode process? That would be especially useful. Music staff lines need to be horizontally straight for best legibility. Any particular staff line could be used as a reference, since sometimes staff groupings are not perfectly aligned within a page (image).

I would sure appreciate any help I could get, for this problem. Thank you!

I knew that Irfanview would do the resize, but I’m thinking that there isn’t *any* program that will actually do the straightening in batch mode.

From what I have learned, you can do this in Adobe CS by using the measure tool to draw a line superimposed on a staff line, then use Image | Rotate Canvas | Arbitrary and use the default angle to straighten the image, manually, one page at a time.

It doesn’t seem possible to automatically straighten a sheet music (whole page) image in batch mode from Adobe Photoshop CS2. The crop and straighten tool makes everything it encounters on a page into a separate image, as if the whole page consisted of many photographs.

You can manually hold the alt key when invoking the crop and straighten, and that does seem to work on a whole page; but I couldn’t figure any way to assign that to an action for batch mode purposes.

Thanks for the suggestion.
