I’m looking at buying a new monitor but have limited $$$ so the monitor I’d like is out of the question. I’ve found one that seems OK but I’m sure you guys can either make me buy it or turn me off it. Please do 😉

19" Mitsubishi 1998FD

Does anyone have experience with this monitor? It seems reasonably sharp and bright.

I use Adobe Photoshop a fair bit. How is this monitor for calibrating? And how is it with Adobe Gamma (my main output provider uses Adobe Gamma for calibration).

While I’m on it I’d be interested in hearing from people who have used the 128Mb Asus Ge4 Ti4800 8x vivo card, particularly with the above monitor. I want to run a single desktop across two monitors (one a cheap monitor for palettes).

Has anyone had any problems with it? Will it do what I want it to with the right drivers? I’ve checked both the Asus and nVidia web sites but want to hear it from someone with experience with the card and without a financial interest 😉

The iiyama Vision Master Pro 454 (19") uses the identical Mitsubishi tube, but produces much better results in all the tests I’ve seen.

You’d be better off with the Matrox G550, G750 or ATi Radeon 9600 or 9800. Not only are the ATi cards better at 3D, but both makers are better at 2D.

Good luck finding one.

Well I had no problems at all. I had specified it with my new computer and it arrived. If I’d wanted to order another separately I can think of 4-5 different suppliers who have them. Where you living – Greenland? 😉
