Is there a quick/easy way to remove chainlink fence from photo?

I have a couple of photos of my nieces playing baseball, and I had to take the photos from behind a chainlink fence. I put the camera’s lens hood against the fence, but it still caught the fence.
Is there a way to remove it that is easier than using the clone tool?

Here’s a link to a couple of samples of what I’m talking about (if needed)

http://www.elberton.net/~fspless/fence1.jpg -the fence shows up here as light lines. It’s more pronounced on the full picture (standard 4 x 6)

Next time simply use a greater aperture on your camera (smaller F:#)
