I use Photoshop, but need something "easier" for my wife to get pix from her new digital camera and do fun stuff with.

I think Elements might even be too complicated. I need something with a real simple GUI and easy basic editing/effects, for a lady who is computer literate, but doesn’t need a "power app."

Any suggestions? Sorry if this is OT.

What program came with your camera? Often these have features like rotate, crop, color correction, etc. Is that something that will work?

Hmmm…. Arcsoft PhotoImpression. Never even installed it. I guess that would be a good place to start, eh? I was looking for something that has some cool FX, tho too. You know, when people first get a new digital camera they want to try all the crazy FX, painting, etc. Any experience with the Arcsoft stuff? I’m guessing it’s easy, since it came with a Canon A75 P&S camera.

Thanks!

Install it and see what it does. You can always uninstall it, if it’s really lame. But I bet it can do some cool stuff rather easily, especially if the camera is fairly new.

manufacturer’s site:

See the tutorial also!

Copied from the site:
Creativity Included
PhotoImpression 5 comes packed with loads of creative tools and content for you to use on your photos. With a single click, apply artistic frames, borders, edges and special effects. Customize your photos and projects with humorous bits of clip art, including thought balloons and objects for every occasion (100s included).

Now You’re Talkin’!
A picture may be worth a thousand words, but sometimes that just ain’t enough. PhotoImpression includes a powerful text editor for adding custom greetings, captions and titles to your photos. You control the font, size, style, and color. Apply drop shadows, texture and color gradients to make your message really pop off the picture.

Custom Photo Projects
Design and print your own personalized photo-calendars in seconds. Design and print unique photobooks complete with custom backgrounds, frames, and clip art. Hang them on your fridge, in your office or give them as gifts.

That looks cool for very basic image editing… I think she wants to do a few more "fun" things with whatever software we buy for her. Thanks for the heads-up!

Thanks, Peadge… that just might do the trick, and it came free with the camera! Will check it out. I appreciate your helpfulness…
