"Win 2k Pro Security Updates and Illustrator 10.0.3 Problems
After installing the latest security updates for Windows 2000 professional (workstation) Photoshop (5.5 and 7.0) and Illustrator (8.0 and 10.0.3) stopped working. They would each get to "Loading startup settings…" but then freeze/stop loading.
I reinstalled all applications and updates and I’m still having the same issues:
– Each application stops loading at Loading startup settings for two to three minutes before launching
– Once launched, each application freezes or locks up when opening files (even files as small as 5 KB)
In each scenario the application will use roughly fifty percent of resources while frozen.
Does anyone know a cure for this?

I am experiencing the exact same behavior with Photoshop 7.0.1 and Illustrator 10.0.3 on my XP Pro machine (Athlon XP 2000+ processor on MSI K7N2 board, 1 GB RAM) after installing the last round of Windows Updates.
Mr. A has tried uninstalling and reinstalling and the problem persists. Deleting preferences files does not cure it either.
ImageReady 7.0.1, InDesign 2.0 and PageMaker 7.0.1 work fine, BTW.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
