I find the user interface completely different.
Somehow taking time to get used to
while accustomed to what I worked on for so long.
Not even dragging a layer to somewhere else is he same.
I assume the alterations is for the better but certainly it is a new learning curve:-)

Noticed that

There are quite a few things not there.

One that I tried to use was auto levels, when I copy old B&W images under tungsten, by just selecting it, makes a clean image.– not longer. Now found its Auto tone!!!!

Different exposure window.

No Extract filter plus others, you have to load them up from the goodies folder on the CD.

Its just some of my work flow items have been renamed or placed in different positions. Eye dropper, ruler tool, now up the top.

Interesting times, yet lots of things work better.

Don’t like the default how images are opened, I like the windows to float on screen. This is what you are saying in dragging layers. Thats in the arrange documents icon top second right, drop down. "Float all windows." haven’t found the default yet to make/keep changes.

The help is also a pain.

True, lots of things do work better.
At the moment I am playing with the ‘Content Aware Scaling’ facility to convert a horizontal or landscape image to a vertical image. This is simply magic:-)

Thanks for pointing this out. I went back to CS3 for the sake of dropping a layer onto another.

Yep it is. All is not for the better but in total it is a winner.

My upgrade to CS4 isn’t due until April (budget schedule), so I have not tried that feature, so let me ask – is it not very much like edit-perspective with edit-scale added? IOW, what one might do with a view camera (except still inferior)?

Not at all. Difference is some portions can be masked for protection. Have a look at explanations @
