I’ll start by saying I love the Smart Objects feature, but I’m wondering: What does Smart Objects do with Photoshops memory usage and speed?

Memory usage – not much, it’s all swapped out if you’re not using the data. Speed – not much unless you’re actively transforming the smart object.

The downside is document size – the child document is embedded in the parent document.
