Just purchased a Rebel XT and my PS8.0cs running Win2K would not open the .CR2 files. Upgrade the RAW plug-in from 2.1 to 2.4 and get the message "Not the right kind of document". Up graded to the 3.1 cs2 raw plug-in and get the message "this version of ps does not support this plug-in". RAW 3.1 is the only plug-in listed for the Rebel XT. Is there something else I can try or unless there is a new release for PS CS I am not going to be able to open the RAW(CR2) files?

thanks

Have you tried updating to PS version CS2?

Have you checked the Adobe site to see if the raw converter for CS supports this model and format?

I would be hacked if I were forced to buy CS2 just for the raw converter. On the other hand, having used CS2 for the last few weeks I would say it has enough new features to easily justify the upgrade.
There are other raw converters out there but some cost as nearly as much or more than the upgrade to CS2 without the rest of the photoshop package. Adobe may have you over a barrel here . . . . unless you like jpegs.

If you’re really stuck, then you can use their own software… Marcel

Photoshop CS does NOT support .CR2 files from the 350D, and it almost certainly never will. Your only options are:
Use a different RAW converter
Upgrade to CS2
Use the DNG converter utility (comes with the raw plugin for CS2 download) to convert the files to DNG format, then open them in CS.
