New File always has a grey background

For some reason my photoshop cs2 just started up with always having this grey background for everysingle new file I start no matter what I set it at.
Maybe there is some default I dont know about. I have another computer with cs2 on it that I checked and compared all settings. Same settings, but different results. I want that grey and white checked transparent background, not a gradient grey one. Can someone give me some suggestions?

Have you checked you transparency settings?

There is a setting in preferences that allows you to eliminate the checkerboard (or change the size/color). Check this out.

Well, I checked my preferences. And that was it! Thanks guys. I had checked the video alpha box. So, I guess if Im editing video I need to have this box checked.
And speaking of video…….DID YOU GET YOUR COW issue. there is a video contest in there! good luck.
