Hi:

I am trying to create a logo using the font Monotype Corsiva but it does not show up in the Photoshop (or Illustrator) list of fonts. This TrueType font is intalled in my fonts folder and I can use in Microsoft Office.

I am using Windows XP (both home and pro) and using CS1 and CS2 on two different computers.

Can this be a font that came with Office and is not allowed to be used in Adobe products? Can I buy it on-line and use it with Adobe products.

Thank you for your insight.

Michael

If the font is not corrupt, and is installed correctly – then it should be working in all applications.

did you scroll through the full font list? i recall that fonts are listed by "internal" names which may or may not be the same as the actual name of the font…

I have Monotype Corsiva showing on my font listing under the letter "C" but as an Open Type font.

I did scroll through the full font list and it is listed just like the other fonts. Since I can use it in Microsoft Office programs, I am assuming it is installed correctly.

Problem solved…I was looking for the font in the font list in the wrong place. I was looking for it around the M fonts but it was listed with all the C fonts. Go figure.

Go figure

Adobe applications sort by the font name, not the manufacturer.

Think of it as if you have a Ram truck. Photoshop would sort it under R, for Ram, while Microsoft would sort it under Dodge or Chrysler, which is a little less useful. I have over 100 ITC fonts, and it is irritating if they are all sorted under I.
