My question is best stated by an example as follows:

In an image with resolution of 300 pixels/inch, I specify (using Filter Factory) that if the horizontal position (x in pixels) is less than or equal to 100, that the red value shall be 120, else it shall be 240. I don’t get a clean transition from 120 to 240 as the position changes from 100 to 101. Instead I get red values of 120/160/200/240 at horizontal positions 99/100/101/240. How can I get the total drop-off to occur across just one pixel instead of four?

Typo in original post:

Change "…99/100/101/240…" to "99/100/101/102…"

The answer (blush!!): I had the point sampler set for 3 pixels x 3 pixels. Switching to a single point sample Gave me the clean jump I expected.
