HI, I am using PS 6.0 and I’m making a navigation bar and I have created several buttons all the same length, different width with 2 different colors to be changed with mouse over.

I’m trying to get the text, which is the same on both buttons, to be perfectly aligned with the other so that when a person places their mouse over button, the only thing seen is the color change. I try to use the ruler with each button but I can only get so close and never right on the money with it and with the mouse over the way I’m doing it, you can see the text change.

I have several buttons to do and it’s driving me nuts..lol

TIA

Joe

or: simply duplicate your text layer and merge each onto their own, different coloured, button layers. They will be perfectly aligned by default.

That’s two perfectly acceptable methods. I wouldn’t be surprised if two or three others turn up very soon 😉

Select the button, then use the move tool and look in the options bar. You can align to selection.

Thanks for all the great tips. This one seemed to work the best for me—->
