I’d like to create a 150px by 30px rounded rectangle. I can create 150px by 30px normal rectangle’s by setting the "Fixed Size" option to 150 x 30, but that doesn’t seem to help with rounded rectangles. Any ideas?

Your using the wrong shape tool then, note at the top where there is a rectangle tool and a round rectangle tool.

Take a look at this:

Still think I’m using the wrong shape tool? Because I sure don’t think I’m using the wrong one…

In your Options Bar, drop the menu by the rounded star/blob.

Choose Fixed Size and enter values.

Next to that menu, you need to enter a value for the corner radius, Since a value of "0" will result in a 90° angled corner.

Explore and experiment wiith EVERYTHING in Photoshop’s UI!

Take a look at the screen shot you posted. Look at the option for the corner radius (you’ll see it in the top bar of your screen shot directly below and slightly to the right of the "Help" drop down) it says 0 px, which is why your corners are square still. I assumed it was the wrong tool because you didn’t have an option for changing the radius. Right tool, wrong problem, sorry. So type in a radius.
