Spotlight blending

I have three "spotlights" that I made with the radial gradient tool: www.osbornewood.com/spotlight.jpg
The top is what I have, the bottom is kind of what I want. I want to blend them where they are together, but not have them lighter where they cross than the middle of the spotlight.
How might I go about doing this?

I would just use the "Clone Tool", to clone over the lighter parts of the beam.
(set the hardness to around 30% in the Brush dropdown menu, on the toolbar)

And maybe use the "Healing Brush Tool" to smooth out any obvious marks left by
the "Clone Tool" (if any).
