I just installed the CS2 upgrade onto my computer and none of the actions from CS (sepia and others that came installed) or personal actions that created are available.

I’ve tried searching forums and can’t find how to get them from CS,

Thanks for any help with this.

Hi Tom,

You can either copy them from the CS actions folder to the CS2 actions folder, or use the CS2 preferences to point CS2 at the CS actions folder as an additional actions folder.

In a standard installation, the CS actions can be found at this location,

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS\Presets\Photoshop Actions

CS2 actions will be found at this location,

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Presets\Photoshop Actions

Once you have done this, the actions should be available in the Action Pallet Menu.

You should note, however, that some CS actions may not work correctly when used in CS2. I can’t remember all the differences offhand, but there are significant differences in the way CS2 handles layers that will cause a CS action to fail in CS2.

Hope this helps.

George,
Thanks for the reply. I copied as you said.

However, when I go to the actions palette in CS2, instead of a list of actions (b+w conversion, sepia, etc) which are in a folder called "Default Actions.atn" in CS, the folder says "Default Actions" without the ".atn" tag. Then in this oflder there is a list of 9 "xxxx Workspaces" that when you click on the toggle to open, the drop-down says "Select xxxx workspace."

I guess I’m not finding the folder with the ".atn" tag. Any ideas?

Thanks, Tom

You will need to load the action set. (And I’d rename it as well, so as not to conflict with the preexisting "Default Actions" folder.)
