Hello. I’m building a website with Dreamweaver MX2004 and would like to add a Web Photo Album. I don’t have Fireworks but I do have Photoshop CS. I can make a photo album with my PhotoshopCS, but can I somehow send this to Dreamweaver to add in to the website I’m building? Anyone know how to do that or if it even can be done?

I appreciate the help!

Just FTP all the files and folders created by Web Gallery to a new folder on your web space and provide a link to the gallery’s index page.

To chrisbirchall:
Thank you for your response to my question. I’m new to this….can your explain what "FTP" means? I guess I need you to explain again in more elementary terms, if you don’t mind, please.

Thanks so much for your help.

"FTP," (file transfer protocol), simply is a means to upload your website content to a remote server. Dreamweaver comes with a built-in FTP tool that you can configure to connect to the server on which your site is hosted/will be hosted.

1) Put all the pictures you want to be included un the browser into a folder.

Note: Make sure all images are in (or converted to) sRGB (or change your Color mode to ‘Working mode: sRGB ‘and your Color Management Policy to ‘Convert to Working RGB’ and uncheck all the warning prompts. If your original images are very large digital camera originals then you might also change the Image Interpolation preference in Preferences->General to ‘Bicubic Sharper’ to maintain sharpness when they are downsampled by the Web Photo Gallery process. Don’t forget to reset these settings back when you’re finished!!

2) Create a sub-folder within your website folder (the one you created for Dreamweaver to use as your website – Site->Manage Sites->New Site) and give it any name (without spaces – ie: FishPix)

3) Use PS-CS to create the photo album (File->Automate->Web Photo Gallery). Pick a style template from the pull-down menu (I prefer Simple). Use the folder of images (step 1) as the ‘Source Images’ and for the ‘Destination’ point it to website sub-folder (FishPix from step 2)

4) If you wish you can use Dreamweaver to edit the resulting Photo Album.

5) Upload the folder to your website. You can view the photo album via link <http://www.yourwebsite.whatever/FishPix>

I assume that since you bought Dreamweaver MX 2004 you *do know* how to use it? Otherwise I think you need to read the manual or take a course. Asking ‘what is FTP’ makes me wonder if you’ve ever created a website before..

To: Russell and Dennis Brody,

Thank you very much for your answers. As soon as I sent my questions, I remambered what FTP meant. I am new to this and you’re right, this is the first website I have attempted to create. Thank you for helping me out. I appreciate it very much.
