Photo scaling – urgent help please.

I made an ad in Indesign with a 300dpi ad but scaled it to a 2×10 inch frame and according to my printer the image lost resolution and it dropped down to 150dpi in the actual ID file AND in the PDF I sent them.

I was told that I should scale the image in photoshop in such a way as to avoid loss of resolution I confess to be new at this sort of thing so your patience and advice are greatly appreciated!

You’re not telling us anything. You say you placed a 300 ppi (note the proper term is PPI, not DPI) but you don’t say what the actual pixel count is.

We don’t know if you scaled it up or down from that description.

Probably (only a guess without enough info) but you may have resized with Resample checked. That means throwing pixels in the garbage which translates as less detail.
