My PS cs2 doesnt read .png formats

I just got my photoshop CS2 version, installed it correctly, activated the program correctly, and when I try to open/save a png format file, it shows an error saying I cant.
Does someone know what do I have to do for be able to use these formats? Thanks by advance

What is the EXACT error message.

Well, my PS is in spanish, the message is:
"No se ha podido cumplir porque no es el tipo de documento correcto" In english its like:
"Couldnt do it because the type of document isnt the correct"

Sounds like they’re not really PNG files.

Can you post one that we can look at?

Can you open the image in another application? Can you open other png’s successfully in PS?

Maybe the png in question is damaged.
