I am using Epson r2400 Printer, Dell Vista OS, and CS3. Can someone refer me to information as to the proper settings in Print dialog box in cs3. I tried to download icc profiles for the epson premium glossy paper but was unsucessful. My prints look terrible. Too dark, too much contrast. Can someone help?

Try this:

Download your profiles from here:

<http://tinyurl.com/yrwumc>

and check they’re installed in the proper folder (I don’t use Vista so I don’t know where that is now. It is C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\color in XP).

Set your CS3 print dialog like this, setting your new Epson 2400 Glossy profile in the printer profile dropdown menu:

< http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1MJzbcG5HtGYaPEvVA I7IXPrsiUdyZ>

and your Epson 2400 print dialog should look like this:

fyi…An easy way to install profiles on XP or Vista is to right click on the profile itself and choose "install profile".

Hope this helps-

What about under proof setup; custom; that is where I would usually set the epson glossy profile in cs2. Is it different in cs3?

Proof setup = preview (soft proof) what the print will look like on screen (ctrl+Y) in Ps as you work, provided of course that you’ve calibrated your monitor. It’s still the same.

CS3 will also display your print soft proofed in the print preview panel (but it’s best to have things right before you get there 😉 ).

Those profiles from Epson come in the form of an installer executable, so maybe it’s best to manually check that they’ve ended up where they should.
