Find a different gift. I think PS 7.0 was the last version that would run on Win 9x. IMO, you’re not very likely to find a legal copy anywhere.

Thanks. I have friends that have diferents legals versions of Photoshop: 7.0, 8.0, CS2 and CS3, but my question is the same. Which one is the newest version compatible with Windows Milenium ?

Use v7, there should not be a problem. Don’t forget the updaters.

Windows ME was not the most stable version of the OS because it was a kludge between 9x(dos based)versions and the NT professional versions.

I would send them an XP upgrade with the gift.

If you want to suprise them big time, hand them an NT based OS (Win 2000, XP), and advise them to buy CS3.

if they’ve upgraded those earlier versions, they can’t give them away. their upgrade depends on the earlier licenses. if they did, their current version would no longer be legal and they might have trouble next time they go to upgrade (if someome were to say, try to register an older version).

You mean Windows ME (Millennium Edition)? I believe CS (8) and CS2 (9) both require at least Windows 2000 or XP, so Photoshop 7 would be the only on that is likely to be compatible with Windows ME.

Thanks a lot !!!, all your responses are very important to me and help me to decide what version I’ll send them. After all of your responses I think is better to send the Photoshop 7.

Obviously not. Nobody here would advise you to use/give and illegal copy of Photoshop.

Ester. You cannot buy a legal copy of Photoshop 7 as it is several versions old.

Simply sending one of your friend’s copies of PS7 will make it an illegal copy unless they sign a licence transfer form and cease using it (and any subsequent upgrades) themselves.

They could actully find themselves unable to reactivate their own current copies, should the recipient attempt to register the PS7 serial number.

Just trying to help keep you on the straight and narrow 😉
