Dave,
I installed the /3GB switch in boot.ini but haven’t rebooted as yet. Question … the /3GB switch was not there before, but on
System Properties > General there is the following text:
Computer:
Intel(R)
Xeon(TM) CPU 3.2GHz
3.19 GHZ, 3.00 GB of RAM
Physical Address Extension.
Doesn’t that say that it already saw 3GB of RAM???
Rebooted. The above "3.00 GB of Ram" is still there. It does seem to be saving faster though.

Be careful with the /3GB switch. It worked well for me in Photoshop, but I found that some games crashed (blue sceen pointing to Nvidia driver) with it.
Doesn’t that say that it already saw 3GB of RAM?
System properties will report up to 3 GB (and the POST screen up to 4), but that doesn’t mean applications can access all of it. In terms of Photoshop usage, all that counts is what PS preferences report.
If you have troble booting with the /3 GB switch (or get blue screens), try adding the /userva parameter with a setting of somewhat less than 3000. 2816 is a nice number, being divisible by 16/32/64 etc.
The last line in boot.ini will then end with … /3 GB /userva=2816.
