I recently upgraded both my laptop and desktop from ME to XP (Home Edition). Everything’s fine on the laptop but on the desktop, when I launch Photoshop 7.0, I get this error message:

"The procedure entry point SMapLS_IP_EBP_20 could not be located in the dynamic link library kernel32.dll."

Clicking OK in the error message dialog continues the launch process (this happens twice). Thereafter, Photoshop seems to work OK but I don’t really know. Could it be that this is affecting some feature I don’t use? I reinstalled Photoshop but the error message still displays. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you use a tablet? The following thread may be helpful.

Upgraded? How? If you did an upgrade installation then all bets are off.

Operating systems need to be cleanly installed to a formatted harddrive.

it SOUNDS like an os message, but the fact that ps continues ok afterwards indicates it might be something that you uninstalled or that is un/installed incorrectly. have you added or removed any hardware lately? in device manager (my computer> properties> hardware> device manager), do any peripherals have a yellow exclamation mark next to them? if you can’t work it out, as bob suggests you may want to consider wiping the drive and installing xp fresh. (it HATES being installed over previous OSes and you may carry over problems from previous installations when you upgrade over 9x or me.)

All peripherals are OK, nothing’s been installed/uninstalled since the OS upgrade. I guess I’ll have to install a fresh XP OS and see what happens. Thanks all.
