Hey All,

I’m preparing a graphic in photoshop for flash and eventually will be exported in quicktime for television. My question is what are the best pixel dimensions for this graphic for standard t.v. Thanks for any help

Will it be full screen, action safe area, lower thirds, animated logo?

Action Safe is the ‘center’ area of the screen.
TV images are distorted and constricted by transmission, reception, display, and add-on graphic elements. Action Safe restricts principle "action" to an area that won’t be affected be these elements. The aspect ratio of Digital TV (so called HDTV) is 16:9 and is significantly wider than standard TV which is 4:3. This usually forces a complete rework of any standard graphic that is going to Digital TV.

Lower Thirds is basically the bottom of the screen where news producers put "Reporting Live…." etc.
Modern productions add crawls and station/network ID’s to this area.
