Heya!

Photoshop 7 works smooth and fast like a baby.

PC, 3.0 ghz PIV, Gig DDR, high quality hardware (Kingmax RAM, Abit MBO, etc etc).

Photoshop CS opens 2 meg files HORRIBLY slow, most of the tools lag (it takes 1 second to display what i did).

Entire thing works like my grandmother coded it.

I tried reinstalling PS, Windows, formatting drives and playing with preferences (scratch disks, etc) – no good.

I can work in it alright, but so much slower than in PS 7…

Help please =)

Got any Autofx Plugins? In particular, Photographic Edges?

See if closing the File Browser helps.

I also found PS CS much slower than PS 7 when opening or closing 100mb files. The irony is that the comparison is between the two versions on two different machines:

PS 7: on a Win98, Celeron 466MHZ, 256mb ram and scratch disk on a shared 30G hd.
PS CS: on a WinXP, P4 2.4GHZ, 1G ram and scratch disk on an empty and separate 80G hd.

Editing in PS CS on the WinXP machine is in general faster. But something is not right with file accessing in my case. What???
