arithmetic coded jpg files

hello,

was emailed some files within a zip disc. i can open one of the files as normal after unzipping. but the rest cannot be opened in photoshop. all i get is a message saying "arithmetic coded files is not implemented." is this a setting i can adjust or is there a problem on the side of the person who sent me the files?

please help!! thank you!

It is a problem on the side of whomever sent you the files (arithmetic coded JPEGs are not widely supported).

if you have a c compiler and can code search for

"arithmetic coded" jpg

in google, you’ll find some source. i didn’t see any app support for it though, so i’m assuming your friend is a programmer and this is for educational purposes.
