Dear Common Wisdom:

I’m exporting files as eps’s from Adobe InDesign. When I import them into a Quark file I’m working on they work fine, although I do get an ‘end of file reached’ warning, but the file prints out fine.

However, the minute I do anything to the eps file in Adobe Photoshop and save it as an eps again and bring it into my Quark document it does not print out as a clean eps, but all fuzzy.

What can I do to fix this?

Seems that you make things complicated with this going from indezine to quark to photoshop.
Indezine and quark are both page layout apps, why use one and then the other?

Once you have your eps (saved as… from either indezine or quark), try opening it w/ illustrator in stead of photoshop.
If adequate, choose all types and convert’em to outlines; then you can save the file as illustrator eps.
Import it in whatever apps, there should not be any problems.

That’s right – Photoshop turns the file into pixels at a set resolution, throwing away any vector information.

What can I do to fix this?

Well, you can stop importing them into Photoshop. What are you doing to them there that requires this workflow?

People should really research OPI a bit.

Files are really not in layout applications
so
who cares if they look like crap – they are placeholders. –
Pisses me off – if folks embed graphics.
