I really like the new file browser except for one little problem. If I try to search or cache subfolders on a directory tree containing lots of files, I get an error message to the effect that "File Browser could not complete this task because of a disk error". I’ve run scandisk and defragmented to no avail and Photoshop is the only program that seems to have a problem of this sort. ThumbsPlus indexes those same directory trees with no problem.

I’m running Windows XP Home edition with 256 Meg of RAM and 3.5 Gigs free on my hard drive.

I’m open to suggestions, does anybody have one?

Hi Ken,

Don’t get excited – this isn’t a solution, just a confirmation that you are not alone as I have what sounds like a very similar/ same problem – In file browser in a directory with about 1500 files (i know – could be better managed…) and I on drilling down into sub folders for the source for a contact sheet (using the automate function) I get "No disk in drive error…..". As the reference which follows relates to the HDD it makes no sense.

My setup is a P4 3ghz 2gb DDR ram and 5 80gb HDDs – I shouldn’t be suffering from this – please, someone tell me that there is a fix for this or that I have a problem with the OS build on my PC that needs sorting….

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers
