photoshop 7.0.1 gone crazy!

I have PS 7.0.1.
Suddenly, without any reason, when I open the
‘Image/Adjustments/Brightness-Contrast’ tool, instead of the two horizontal control bars, the ‘color picker’ tool appears and all the other functions are unusable.
Can someone help me?

Have you tried to reset the preferences (Shift-Alt/Option-Ctrl/Command while PS is launching)?

BTW, I’ve read that Brightness-Contrast is really a tool that must be avoided because it unnecessarily loses info. Use Levels/Curves instead.
