How to turn off marquee, remove marquee in PhotoShop Elements 2.0

This may seem obvious to experienced users but I read the help and searched Google Groups and could not find out how to turn off or remove the marquee which is different from just hiding the marquee. To turn off or remove the marquee, just click anywhere outside the current marquee area. Do not drag as this will just create a new marquee area. You can also press Ctrl + D on the PC keyboard or Cmd + D on the Mac.

to de select use control D
to hide it without de selecting use control H press Ctrl h again to re appear
